Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble nutrient found in some foods. In the body, it acts as an antioxidant, helping to protect cells from the damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are compounds formed when our bodies convert the food we eat into energy. Ascorbic acid is also used to prevent and treat scurvy (a disease that causes fatigue, gum swelling, joint pain, and poor wound healing from a lack of vitamin C in the body). Ascorbic acid is in a class of medications called antioxidants.

Ascorbic acid is used to prevent or treat low levels of vitamin C in people who do not get enough of the vitamin from their diets. Most people who eat a normal diet do not need extra ascorbic acid. Low levels of vitamin C can result in a condition called scurvy.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble nutrient found in some foods. In the body, it acts as an antioxidant, helping to protect cells from the damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are compounds formed when our bodies convert the food we eat into energy.

The ultimate raw material for the production of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is corn or wheat. This is converted via starch to glucose by specialist companies, and then to sorbitol. We produce the pure final products from sorbitol in a series of biotechnical, chemical processing, and purification steps.

For Human use:- Vitamin C is particularly important for maintaining healthy-looking skin. Your skin cells use this vitamin to protect from stress caused by pollution, smoking, and UV rays. Your skin also needs vitamin C to create collagen. Collagen is a protein that makes up more than 70 percent of the dry weight of your skin.

Ascorbic acid is an important player in collagen and carnitine synthesis, as an antioxidant, and mineral metabolism. Like other water-soluble vitamins, there is nobody tissue storage of vitamin C. This means that species requiring vitamin C must consume it regularly to maintain circulating levels.

Sodium ascorbate and calcium ascorbate, both ascorbate salts, release ascorbate upon digestion and are therefore used in some dietary supplements. Ascorbate and ascorbic acid are both naturally present in the body. The richest natural sources of Vitamin C are fruits and vegetables.

For Poultry use:- Vitamin C ameliorates heat stress-induced problems such as poor immunity, feed intake, weight gain, oxidative stress, rectal and body temperature, fertility and semen quality, carcass weight, and mortality in birds.
